Where is New Tehri located?
New Tehri is a quaint hill station in Uttarakhand, which is slowly emerging as a tourist hub. It is at a distance of about 100 km from Dehradun and it normally takes 3 to 5 hours, depending upon which route you have selected.

As you leave Tehri Main Market to head towards the Tehri Dam, 2 km along the way you will come across a small market where you can shop for souvenirs and warm clothes.
The market is covered and it feels like you are in an underground market, since being on a slope, it gradually lowers as you move along.
If you are a hardcore nature lover and touristy places do not interest you, head out to Ranichauri and pitch a tent.
You will find yourself among the lovely pine forest and peace that is unmatched. Ranichauri is among the secret hills stations of Uttarakhand which is about 6 km from New Tehri.

The nearest airport to New Tehri is the Jollygrant airport, which is at a distance of around 73 km from New Tehri. You can either rent a bike from Rishikesh or take a bus.
Even if you wish to book a taxi, do so at Rishikesh and avoid traveling via taxis available at the airport, which in most cases charge twice or thrice the actual price.
